· You can put any handset into Survey Mode by pressing the menu button, then *789872*. This will put an additional display showing the APs within range of the handset.
· You’ll see the RPN number between 00 and FF and the signal strength between 20 and 99 – 20 being best and 99 being worst. Anything over 70 is likely to be a less-than-perfect call with speech dropping out.
· The handset cannot be used to make calls whilst in Survey mode.
· Always make sure you repeat *789872* once your survey has complete so the handset can be used normally again.
· You really want two APs visible to a handset at any time – one as the primary and another as a backup, and both of them to show a signal strength below 70.
· APs should never be put within 3 meters of one another, and should be placed around the circumference of the bidding space.
· As long as the radio is in VLAN 3 and DHCP has been correctly configured with the option values to set a download file name and address, the radio will flash and reboot a few times and then a solid amber lamp shows it's working correctly. If it's not amber and solid, there is a problem.
