To completely enable a person, you need to create them as a user, then add an Elevate license (which provides the user with a license to make and take telephone calls), with telephone number and then consider if they require a device or need to participate in any hunt groups.
Before you Start:
Elevate will not allow you to assign an extension number or DDI telephone that is already assigned. However if you wish to see what numbers or extensions are not in use, Navigate to the left hand side menu Users.
Here you can view all existing names, phone numbers and extensions and sort them in whichever order you prefer.
1) Create a User
- Navigate to the Users > Create User OR Services > Elevate > Users page and click the Create User button.
- Enter the user's Name, Primary Active Directory E-mail address, and generate a Password. Note: This password will generally not be used as Elevate will automatically use the matching email address's M365 password and 2FA instead. This can be disabled later, but by default is how a user's password works.
- Adjust the e-mail address in Send Password.
- Click Create. The user will be created and you will be returned to the user list.
Note: The user will not be alerted to this new account unless you decide to do so.
2) Enable Elevate (Calling and a Phone Number) for a User
There are two ways to enable Elevate for a User:
- Navigate to the Users > Username >Elevate > select Subscription > select Elevate Essentials as the user's license and Auto-assign a new number or choose a number from the list of Available/ unused phone numbers and click Enable.Note: Elevate Basic subscription does not include PBX functionality, so users with this license will not have a direct number assigned, only an extension.
It will take around 30 seconds to configure a user.
OR
- Navigate to the Services > Elevate > Subscriptions > Assign Subscriptions.
- To assign licenses to an individual user or multiple users, click on Users without Elevate > check for selected users > Proceed.
- It will take around 30 seconds to configure a user.
Important: Elevate can be enabled for a user via User List/User Settings ONLY if there are enough available Elevate Subscription licenses, otherwise Not enough subscriptions error will appear. Contact PXN.
Important - Change the Caller ID.
One final element you must manually edit when you have created a new user is to ensure their caller ID is correct. Often the default is to send the main company number rather than the user's own DDI number.
Go to Users and find the user you have just created
Click on that user to edit their settings.
Click on Caller ID
In the second radio button, change the caller ID to the one you want. For instance 1111 will find the number ending 1111, then click to select.
